In our minds Belladonna has been most often associated with the Italian expression “bella donna” meaning of beautiful lady. The topic here is not about feminine the gender, but, the plant bearing the same name. Most of us are probably more familiar with the term Deadly nightshade, death berries, devil’s cherries, poison black cherries, dwayberry, or Devil’s Berries.
Belladonna has its origins in Europe, its leaves and roots used in medical remedies throughout the ages. Historically, one of the more well-known uses were by Italian women, who used the berry juice to dilate their pupils for increased attractiveness.
Belladonna can be toxic in large doses, especially to the very young. It can be easily purchased at many health food stores or online. Found as an ingredient in some prescriptions, homeopathic and over the counter meds. In other words, you may find it anywhere.
In 2010, the risk of Belladonna in “Hyland’s Baby Teething Tablets” became of such great concern that the company voluntarily recalled the product. The problem being that the

Malignant mesothelioma is not lung cancer but is a cancer of the lining of the lungs. Lung cancer is a malignancy occurring in the lung. Some literature about the two cancers make these differences blurred leading to a misconception that they are the same. They are not.
Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer usually caused by exposure to asbestos fibers affecting the:
- Pleural (cancer of tissue surrounding the lungs)
- Pericardial (tissue surrounding the heart)
- Peritoneal (surrounding tissue of the abdomen for example liver, bowel)
- Testicular (thickening of the ducts and glands in the testes)
There is no cure at this time. Doctors hope to prolong life expectancy through cancer treatments and surgery when indicated. Like any fatal disease, life expectancy improves if caught early.
Getting Mesothelioma
Diagnosis is not always easy because there is a long latency period from 10-50 years after asbestos exposure before symptoms appear.
Exposure to asbestos can come from working in high risk professions. Indirect exposure can come from contact with those who work in high risk industries. This can be from family members and friends who carry fibers on their clothing. If you clean clothes that contains fibers. If you live in an area where asbestos industries are located, you are at risk.
The danger comes from unseen fibers that travel through the air. When we inhale, we take these tiny particles into our lungs. The evidence of which may not be known for over a generation because of the long latency period.
Other substances also pose a threat.
- Zeolite (found in the soil from the region of Anatoli Turkey)
- Erionite (a naturally occurring fibrous mineral found in volcanic ash) it is a carcinogen.
Mesothelioma Malignant Or Benign
In the media, we usually hear about Mesothelioma in its malignant form. However, it can be benign and may display many of the same symptoms. Unlike its malignant counterpart, it usually responds to surgery and is not life threatening.
However, it is sometimes is a precursor to a later malignant form.
What Are High Risk Asbestos Industries
There are many professions causing direct contact with asbestos. You may not even realize exposure has occurred.

Dry mouth (Xerostomia) is a common condition especially among women. Its prevalence increases with aging. One of the leading telltale signs is a reduction or foamy (thick) saliva.
The Causes
For some public speaking or social settings can invoke serious bouts with anxiety. The nervous tension can create embarrassing moments where lips become dry; and, stick to gums or the tongue to the roof of the mouth.
Social settings are not the only cause of xerostomia. Dry mouth can be caused by diabetes and other illnesses. Moreover, medications can be another culprit.
What Are The Effects
Dry mouth is no joke because difficulty speaking or swallowing can occur. Low saliva production often precedes bad breath (halitosis) and the dryness creates a breeding ground for germs and bacteria.
We may not normally associate its affects in other areas of our life, like curtailing our ability to taste food. Persistent dry mouth over time can cause dental decay.

What is Sialorrhea
Sialorrhea is a weakness or difficulty with the swallowing reflex. Drooling occurs when saliva accumulates and begins to overflow. Excess mucus becomes most dangerous when sleeping because of the potential for choking.
