If you are suffering from frequent heartburn at night time there has to be a behavior that triggers the problem. The key is to figure out if there are one or multiple causes.
Food types, how much you eat before going to bed can determine if you have night heartburn.
Eating foods high in acids, fat, and spices can trigger heartburn. Whole milk might taste good but it is full of fat and can exacerbate matters because of its acidic properties. Substitute skim milk or low fat instead.
Night Heartburn Remedies
Eat your largest meal during the earlier part of the day or at least 3 hours before going to bed.
Try eating smaller meals to reduce gastric pressure instead of large helpings. For example, instead of three big meals, cut it down into four or five small ones throughout the day.
Avoid snacking less than 2 hours before bedtime.
Fruits high in acid lemons, oranges, tomatoes can help increase the stomach’s acid content.
Be watchful of medications and limit alcohol intake that may aggravate the situation.
Sleep on your left side to aid digestion. Raise the head of your bed 4-6 inches. Eat more
