Women are especially embarrassed by bad breath and go through great lengths to conceal it if they are aware that they have it. If your wife has breath odor this may be a good time to see if any of the following are true:
- Onset of Menopause
- Pregnancy
- Medications
- Periodontal disease
- Gingivitis

We seldom speak about how changes in breath odor can be caused by pregnancy and menopause.
The one thing that these 2 stages in life have in common is a sudden shift or imbalance of hormones.
If your wife is moving towards mid-life at some point she is going to experience a reduction of estrogen causing dry mouth. As we all know dry mouth is a breeding ground for germs, bacteria and bad breath. The loss of estrogen can increase the risk of periodontal disease. Dealing with bad breath from a stranger, friend or casual acquaintance is difficult enough, but when you have to live eat and sleep with that person every day it can really become a challenge. Confronting your husband or spouse can lead to hurt feelings and arguments.
