Trends come and go, who has not heard this expression at one time or another. However, we usually mean hair, clothing, and cosmetics. But, I never thought that crooked teeth would be in vogue. We here in America spend an exorbitant amount of money trying to look perfect even down to our teeth. If we have buckteeth or crooked teeth, we try to have them straightened. We are ashamed of our little imperfections. But, apparently in Japan this is not the case. Having slightly crooked teeth is attractive. So much so that, some Japanese women are going to great lengths to obtain this new fashion look. Remember, how we all laughed at Jerry Lewis and his buckteeth antics. “The Nutty Professor” never had it so good. Today he would be a sex symbol.
If you are snaggletooth or double tooth, it goes without saying that you were probably

The problem with your teeth may not be all in your mind. But, it may not be in your teeth. Dentist not properly trained to recognize the signs of TMJ and TMD end up performing unnecessary surgeries like root canals. When the surgery does not result in the expected relief, persistent tooth pain will require a specialist. This could be neuromuscular dentist.
TMD may get better on its own. But, if this does not occur. Any of the following symptoms can persist.
- Toothache
- Headache
- Jaw locking
- Popping, clicking, or grating sound when closing or opening the mouth
- Ear pain
- Neck ache
- Joint pain
- Pain in the face
- Pain
Temporomandibular Muscle Disorders can cause difficulty in eating, swallowing, chewing, and speaking. When the nagging pain continues and no apparent medical reason found, your physician may attribute the symptoms to being psychosomatic. But, the root of problem lies in a real physical disorder, caused by problems with the joints and muscles that connect the lower jaw to the skull.
Medical Coverage
Not all insurance plans cover treatment for TMJ. You will have to check with your physician or insurance provider. They can provide you with a comprehensive list of treatments that are covered.
Some of the major healthcare insurers like Aetna will not cover treatments or diagnostic procedures considered medically unnecessary or experimental.

Many of us like to think that we are on a level playing ground when it comes to discrimination. But, this is not always the case. Discrimination is nothing new, and has always been with us. We have singled members of a group out based on race, religion, political affiliation or any other characteristic that we may have found personally unacceptable at the time. But, we seldom think with all the laws passed, specifically the “The American With Disabilities Act” that we would still need to have discussions on discrimination in healthcare.
How many of us ever consider the fact that for some having a disability like autism, epilepsy, or special needs could potentially restrict or limit our access to dental healthcare? Well, this turns out to be the case for one Tina Lumbley at 40 years old who has autism. Her mother vividly conveys a story of how it became increasingly difficult for her to get proper dental care for her daughter after she became 18 years of age. Some doctors were only willing to treat her daughter under anesthesia.

In our minds Belladonna has been most often associated with the Italian expression “bella donna” meaning of beautiful lady. The topic here is not about feminine the gender, but, the plant bearing the same name. Most of us are probably more familiar with the term Deadly nightshade, death berries, devil’s cherries, poison black cherries, dwayberry, or Devil’s Berries.
Belladonna has its origins in Europe, its leaves and roots used in medical remedies throughout the ages. Historically, one of the more well-known uses were by Italian women, who used the berry juice to dilate their pupils for increased attractiveness.
Belladonna can be toxic in large doses, especially to the very young. It can be easily purchased at many health food stores or online. Found as an ingredient in some prescriptions, homeopathic and over the counter meds. In other words, you may find it anywhere.
In 2010, the risk of Belladonna in “Hyland’s Baby Teething Tablets” became of such great concern that the company voluntarily recalled the product. The problem being that the
