Trends come and go, who has not heard this expression at one time or another. However, we usually mean hair, clothing, and cosmetics. But, I never thought that crooked teeth would be in vogue. We here in America spend an exorbitant amount of money trying to look perfect even down to our teeth. If we have buckteeth or crooked teeth, we try to have them straightened. We are ashamed of our little imperfections. But, apparently in Japan this is not the case. Having slightly crooked teeth is attractive. So much so that, some Japanese women are going to great lengths to obtain this new fashion look. Remember, how we all laughed at Jerry Lewis and his buckteeth antics. “The Nutty Professor” never had it so good. Today he would be a sex symbol.
If you are snaggletooth or double tooth, it goes without saying that you were probably

The problem with your teeth may not be all in your mind. But, it may not be in your teeth. Dentist not properly trained to recognize the signs of TMJ and TMD end up performing unnecessary surgeries like root canals. When the surgery does not result in the expected relief, persistent tooth pain will require a specialist. This could be neuromuscular dentist.
TMD may get better on its own. But, if this does not occur. Any of the following symptoms can persist.
- Toothache
- Headache
- Jaw locking
- Popping, clicking, or grating sound when closing or opening the mouth
- Ear pain
- Neck ache
- Joint pain
- Pain in the face
- Pain
Temporomandibular Muscle Disorders can cause difficulty in eating, swallowing, chewing, and speaking. When the nagging pain continues and no apparent medical reason found, your physician may attribute the symptoms to being psychosomatic. But, the root of problem lies in a real physical disorder, caused by problems with the joints and muscles that connect the lower jaw to the skull.
Medical Coverage
Not all insurance plans cover treatment for TMJ. You will have to check with your physician or insurance provider. They can provide you with a comprehensive list of treatments that are covered.
Some of the major healthcare insurers like Aetna will not cover treatments or diagnostic procedures considered medically unnecessary or experimental.

Many of us like to think that we are on a level playing ground when it comes to discrimination. But, this is not always the case. Discrimination is nothing new, and has always been with us. We have singled members of a group out based on race, religion, political affiliation or any other characteristic that we may have found personally unacceptable at the time. But, we seldom think with all the laws passed, specifically the “The American With Disabilities Act” that we would still need to have discussions on discrimination in healthcare.
How many of us ever consider the fact that for some having a disability like autism, epilepsy, or special needs could potentially restrict or limit our access to dental healthcare? Well, this turns out to be the case for one Tina Lumbley at 40 years old who has autism. Her mother vividly conveys a story of how it became increasingly difficult for her to get proper dental care for her daughter after she became 18 years of age. Some doctors were only willing to treat her daughter under anesthesia.

In our minds Belladonna has been most often associated with the Italian expression “bella donna” meaning of beautiful lady. The topic here is not about feminine the gender, but, the plant bearing the same name. Most of us are probably more familiar with the term Deadly nightshade, death berries, devil’s cherries, poison black cherries, dwayberry, or Devil’s Berries.
Belladonna has its origins in Europe, its leaves and roots used in medical remedies throughout the ages. Historically, one of the more well-known uses were by Italian women, who used the berry juice to dilate their pupils for increased attractiveness.
Belladonna can be toxic in large doses, especially to the very young. It can be easily purchased at many health food stores or online. Found as an ingredient in some prescriptions, homeopathic and over the counter meds. In other words, you may find it anywhere.
In 2010, the risk of Belladonna in “Hyland’s Baby Teething Tablets” became of such great concern that the company voluntarily recalled the product. The problem being that the

One good way to find a dentist is to use Google maps. Enter your address or the words near and then your address to pull search results for a doctor in your area.
Follow links on how to get there by driving or public transportation. Instantly check trip travel time.
Although there are some dentist reviews, they are sparse. Dental directories are a better source.
For more options, consider checking the yellow pages, business directories, referral from friends. Even your own personal physician can be a good resource. Physician’s often network together, so you may find some good referrals this way.
Check with your local college or university. They may have a dental school of their own. This can save you money. However, some do not feel comfortable because students will perform the dental work. Usually you are required to sign a release.
Once you have narrowed your candidates down to a select few, probe further into their

Having bad breath is not always a simple problem. It may take more than mouthwash to clean up the issue.
The consequences of DUI/DWI can be far reaching effecting your job and educational opportunities. It is for this reason you may want to speak with a lawyer before making any decision about how to proceed if you are charged.
Did you ever think that your bad breath could lead to DUI/DWI arrest? It can. States are cracking down on those driving under the influence of alcohol more than ever before because of all the accidental deaths it has caused. DUI not only refers to alcohol but any illegal drugs, marijuana, cocaine, inhalants, prescribed or over the counter medications.
So many of us frequently engage in risky behavior and often escape the consequences. A night out on the town, a few drinks with friends, bachelor/bachelorette parties, birthday celebrations and even family reunions, we are a country that loves celebrations and parades.

Caring for someone with dementia be it your parents or spouse will be one of the most difficult challenges of your life. Watching the person, you love slip away into a world where they are no longer able to distinguish real threats from those imagined. Now, unable or disinterested in performing personal hygiene (bathing, oral care, and changing clothes) tasks because the steps have become too complicated and confusing, your help with simple activities like brushing teeth or scrubbing dentures can raise fear. However, poor oral hygiene can lead to health problems, like periodontal disease, kidney infection, gum disease, stroke, cardiovascular disease, and pneumonia. With dementia, time is never on your side because it causes changes in the brain that make the disease grow progressively worse.
What Is Dementia
It can have multiple causes. In some cases, it is reversible when triggered (mimic) by:
- Medications
- High fever
- Vitamin deficiency
- Dehydration
- Head injury
- Over medication
- Exposure to poisons (heavy metals, pesticides, manganese, lead)
- Thyroid gland problems
- Anoxia (hypoxia) not enough oxygen reaching the brain

Many of us do not think about our pet’s breath until it smells bad. Yes, pets have bad breath. We should consider this: what we do for ourselves to prevent breath odor and promote good oral hygiene will also apply to our dogs and cats. Our furry friends can suffer from tooth decay, and bad oral bacteria the cause of stink breath. Dogs, cats can suffer from dental disease just as we do. Food particles decay and form bacteria that lead to plaque build-up. The plaque can cause gums to become inflamed, recede, or bleed making matters worse.
Calculus/plaque a hard yellow/brownish coating at the base of your dogs/cats teeth can grow progressively worse if left untreated. For reasons not fully understood smaller dog breeds tend to be most effected by gum disease. Help prevent tooth decay and gum disease in your pet by brushing their teeth daily. Use a small child’s toothbrush or a pet finger brush. Do not use human toothpaste. Use only toothpaste formulated for your dog/cat/puppy/kitten. Coming in meat flavorings or other varieties to entice and get your pet accustom to the idea of having their teeth brush.
If you need a dental exam yearly, it might be a good idea to get one for your dog or cat.
If your best friend has not had a dental exam in long time, visually inspect their teeth for yellow and brown spots. If you find them take the time to schedule a complete checkup. Your veterinarian will need to do a complete tooth cleaning and scrape off tartar.
Do not wait until your dog needs tooth removal or restoration before you do something. Besides brushing there are pet breath sprays and mouthwashes that help dissolve plaque and bad oral bacteria causing bad breath.

If you are suffering from frequent heartburn at night time there has to be a behavior that triggers the problem. The key is to figure out if there are one or multiple causes.
Food types, how much you eat before going to bed can determine if you have night heartburn.
Eating foods high in acids, fat, and spices can trigger heartburn. Whole milk might taste good but it is full of fat and can exacerbate matters because of its acidic properties. Substitute skim milk or low fat instead.
Night Heartburn Remedies
Eat your largest meal during the earlier part of the day or at least 3 hours before going to bed.
Try eating smaller meals to reduce gastric pressure instead of large helpings. For example, instead of three big meals, cut it down into four or five small ones throughout the day.
Avoid snacking less than 2 hours before bedtime.
Fruits high in acid lemons, oranges, tomatoes can help increase the stomach’s acid content.
Be watchful of medications and limit alcohol intake that may aggravate the situation.
Sleep on your left side to aid digestion. Raise the head of your bed 4-6 inches. Eat more

Malignant mesothelioma is not lung cancer but is a cancer of the lining of the lungs. Lung cancer is a malignancy occurring in the lung. Some literature about the two cancers make these differences blurred leading to a misconception that they are the same. They are not.
Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer usually caused by exposure to asbestos fibers affecting the:
- Pleural (cancer of tissue surrounding the lungs)
- Pericardial (tissue surrounding the heart)
- Peritoneal (surrounding tissue of the abdomen for example liver, bowel)
- Testicular (thickening of the ducts and glands in the testes)
There is no cure at this time. Doctors hope to prolong life expectancy through cancer treatments and surgery when indicated. Like any fatal disease, life expectancy improves if caught early.
Getting Mesothelioma
Diagnosis is not always easy because there is a long latency period from 10-50 years after asbestos exposure before symptoms appear.
Exposure to asbestos can come from working in high risk professions. Indirect exposure can come from contact with those who work in high risk industries. This can be from family members and friends who carry fibers on their clothing. If you clean clothes that contains fibers. If you live in an area where asbestos industries are located, you are at risk.
The danger comes from unseen fibers that travel through the air. When we inhale, we take these tiny particles into our lungs. The evidence of which may not be known for over a generation because of the long latency period.
Other substances also pose a threat.
- Zeolite (found in the soil from the region of Anatoli Turkey)
- Erionite (a naturally occurring fibrous mineral found in volcanic ash) it is a carcinogen.
Mesothelioma Malignant Or Benign
In the media, we usually hear about Mesothelioma in its malignant form. However, it can be benign and may display many of the same symptoms. Unlike its malignant counterpart, it usually responds to surgery and is not life threatening.
However, it is sometimes is a precursor to a later malignant form.
What Are High Risk Asbestos Industries
There are many professions causing direct contact with asbestos. You may not even realize exposure has occurred.
